Extending OCPI

Extending OCPI is possible and facilated from version 2.3.0. Parties can add own services. If parties want the services to be adopted and supported by the EVRoaming Foundation and that way become official part of OCPI, they can offer it to the EVRoaming Foundation.

Modifying OCPI is NOT allowed. By that we mean that all requirements that exist in the original specification must be respected by the extension.

  • It is finally up to the EVRoaming Foundation and its Contributors to decide if an offered service is adopted as part of OCPI.
  • IP must be handed over, as that way we can guarantee (with max effort) that OCPI will stay free to use
  • The following items must be described:
    • Describe your use case/service as a user story
    • List the actors involved in the use case
    • Describe alternative solutions within OCPI
    • Describe alternative solutions without OCPI
    • Backers
  • The service must not violate GDPR / Privacy regulations
  • It must be possible for different parties to implement it – no party lock-in
  • It must be in line with security norms (as much as possible).

The EVRoaming Foundation will setup an overview of all known and available OCPI extensions.
