Letter to the European Commission – no obligation for physical card readers to every station.

EVRoaming Foundation signed a letter written by CharIn and supported by 5 other organisations to ask the European Commission to remove the obligation to add physical card readers at every charge station. This is currently part of draft AFIR regulations which should become into place in 2027. As EVRoaming foundation we support different payment and access solutions to charge infrastructure. But we do not support obligations to add devices to charge stations which makes it expensive and reduces the needed innovations. We agree that accessibility needs to be improved and we are working every day to achieve this. But requiring expensive hardware to stations while there are good alternatives, is not a solution according to us and 5 other organisations. Read all about it in the enclosed letter to the EC.
